He was born in Tasmania and his father was a distinguished William F. Buckley organised a group to support Flynn during the trial that was called the American Boys Club for the Defence of Errol Flynn (ABCDEF). Errol Flynn, whose greatest acting successes were in the thirties and forties, was the lead actor of a now-dead film genre, the swashbuckler. A quest to solve the mystery of his grandfather's violent death in Launceston in 1942, stepping into real and imagined happenings at Hobart's Beaumaris Zoo and his grandfather's recruitment of Tasmanian film star Errol Flynn for a plan to save the thylacine from extinction. In his posthumously published biography, My Wicked, Wicked Ways, (First Cooper Square edition 2003,, he relates the highlights of a life filled with real adventures. Indeed the path that led the Tasmanian devil Errol Flynn to Hollywood, as told in his autobiography “My wicked, wicked ways”, reads like a real pirate story. But the picture also hints at other qualities we don't usually associate with Errol Flynn -- grace, dignity and sophistication, qualities which, by the way, appear in My Wicked, Wicked Ways. I could regale you with plot specifics, but it'd be about as useful as describing the plot to Pirates of the Caribbean 3, starring the poor man's Errol Flynn himself, Orlando Bloom. He was the movie pirate, In My Wicked, Wicked Ways, Flynn presents himself as a heroically bad example, someone whose life is veers toward Gargantua and Pantagruel: He starts off claiming to have been a slave trader (but just as a sideline) and a person who sailed through Caribbean hurricanes.
